Initially I thought that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crunchyroll.com\/inu-x-boku-secret-service\"><em>Inu x Boku Secret Service<\/em><\/a> was rather silly. And it is.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form-536x367.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"Ririchiyo Oni Form\" width=\"536\" height=\"367\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form-536x367.png 536w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form-150x102.png 150w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form-438x300.png 438w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ririchiyo-Oni-Form.png 795w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 536px) 100vw, 536px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s got a shy girl who turns into an <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#oni\">oni<\/a> when she gets angry. It has a certain amount of <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#fan_service\">fan service<\/a>. It has some rather kinky humor including a masked pervert who sings jolly songs about the joys of S &#038; M.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo-550x308.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Kagerou and Ririchiyo\" width=\"550\" height=\"308\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo-550x308.jpg 550w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo-500x280.jpg 500w, https:\/\/bugfox.net\/fun\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Kagerou-and-Ririchiyo.jpg 656w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n(I think I know who everyone will be dressed as at the next anime convention.)<\/p>\n<p>OK, this isn&#8217;t some great literary classic and it&#8217;s not for little kids, but after watching <em>Nisemonogatari<\/em> this seems almost wholesome. And it&#8217;s pretty consistently funny and in the end rather affecting.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nStill, one thing puzzles me (aside from the question of how they got the idea that &#8220;secret-service&#8221; is the proper English term for &#8220;bodyguard.&#8221;) This show seems 100% <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#shoujo\">shoujo<\/a>, from the drawing style to the worldview to the sappy-romantic-but-slightly-twisted ending. Yet it&#8217;s based on a <em><a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews\/#shounen\">shounen<\/a><\/em> <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#manga\">manga<\/a> series.<\/p>\n<p>From watching <em>Bakuman<\/em> I have some idea of the pressures that a shounen <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#mangaka\">mangaka<\/a> works under. How could a series like this not only manage to survive but become popular enough to get an anime adaptation? I&#8217;ve heard that most shounen manga magazines have a certain percentage of female readers.
