Cardcaptor Sakura sequel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you can see from the video below there is going to be a sequel to <a href=\"\/fun\/2006\/12\/08\/cardcaptor-sakura-anime-review\/\"><em>Cardcaptor Sakura<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VySDRbfnev4?ecver=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Apparently there will be an <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#OVA\">OVA<\/a> released next September followed by a new TV series next January.<\/p>\n<p>I have very mixed feelings about this. I think the original is one of the best-written <a href=\"\/fun\/terms-used-in-anime-reviews#anime\">anime<\/a> series ever. The thing is, it had a perfect ending and there&#8217;s a real risk that any attempt at a sequel will diminish it.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nI&#8217;m particularly concerned because CLAMP actually did a sort-of sequel already: the deeply disturbing <a href=\"\/fun\/2008\/05\/11\/tsubasa-reservoir-chronicle-anime-review\/\"><em>Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE<\/em><\/a> which, as far as I am concerned, is a non-canon alternate universe story.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cardcaptor Sakura<\/em> is a very positive, upbeat story, but if you&#8217;ve read or watched much of CLAMP&#8217;s work you can tell that they usually prefer things that are more on the sad, dark and violent side. Which is fine, I guess, but I don&#8217;t want to see such tendencies spoiling CCS.<\/p>\n<p>Of course CCS did have some dark undertones which Akiyuki Shinbou <a href=\"\/fun\/2011\/02\/15\/cardcaptor-madoka\/\">explored in detail<\/a> in <a href=\"\/fun\/tag\/madoka-magica\/?order=asc\"><em>Madoka Majica<\/em><\/a>. But in CCS the dark undertones were just hints that things <em>could<\/em> go badly wrong. In the end, none of the awful possibilities ever actually happened.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway I&#8217;ll be looking forward to this with a mixture of hope and dread.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As you can see from the video below there is going to be a sequel to Cardcaptor Sakura.
